Put simply, Instructional Design (ID) means the needs-based preparation of content. The format must be chosen in such a way that it is meaningful, interesting and easy for learners to understand. For this purpose, pedagogical-psychological principles are used.
Focus of ID
In contrast to general didactics, instructional design has a strong connection to technology. The focus is on systematic and scientific findings on the design of learning environments. This includes planning, development and implementation of the measures.
Authorization of ID
Anyone who develops e-learning courses wants learners to acquire new knowledge and skills. This is ensured by solid instructional design. The learning content is tailored and prepared to the needs of the learners.
Development process of learning environments according to the ADDIE model
Analyze
At the beginning of each project there is an analysis. In the e-leraning area, these are the training needs analysis as well as the target group analysis.
Design
This does not only mean the visual, but also the didactic design or didactic design. the conception of the contents. The relevant step is to create a storyboard.
Develop
In this step, the content is created. In addition to the e-learning course itself, this also includes the creation of resources (audios, videos, animations, etc.).
Implement
After creation, testing and integration into the learning environment follows. the provision or delivery of the finished product. This is completed with the feeback of the learners.
Craft of an Instructional Designer
The role of the Instructional Designer varies from organization to organization, as do their names. Common job titles are Training Designer, E-Learning Developer or E-Learning Author. As a rule, his field of activity includes the following tasks:
